The following information is what I think is the truth. If it's not, let me know in the comments section.
The sleds are widely available now. The primary retailer selling them is gearx. They are a rad company who I have found to be friendly and easy to work with.
You can buy one for $130, or two for $100 each. That's a good price.
It seems like David Sellers is still the owner of the company. From what I can tell, he's top notch too.
Whitney Phillips is now making super cool custom hardwood long-boards. http://warrenpieces.com/
While there wasn't much water last year, ruining the sledding season and putting a damper on the kayaking season, this year is looking much better around the country. I expect to see some super slick edits by the end of the season.

Sledding 2013
I had three weeks in Salt Lake before I went back to Southern Utah for school. The first day home, we went sledding in my back yard and I messed up my shoulder. I wasn't able to sled again until after Christmas. After Christmas, we hit it hard and put together this edit. The snow was sweet, and those who went up with me were rad.

Less Drag Tip #1
The Mad River Rocket Sleds come with a lip on the back shown here.
See that lip on the back? That catches snow and creates a lot of drag.
We want something that looks a bit more like this.
The smooth back of this second sled will make it noticeably quicker. I'm sure there are a lot of ways to lop off that lip. How do I do it? I get on my angry face and take it to the metal grinder.
Then I change my angry face to a scared face, then to a relieved face. Then I do a lot of yelling, and eventually I have a much faster sled.

For Those Who Love The Mad River Rocket
I am starting a blog for all those who like to free sled.
The Mad River Rocket Sled straps on you legs while you kneel, enabling you to cruse through woods, explore the back country, and do freestyle tricks. Pioneers of this sport were excited to continue to explore the possibilities, but unfortunately, the sleds aren't being made anymore. Whitney Philips is was the CEO of the company, and recently made this statement,

"Hey everyone, sorry to keep you all in the dark. I lost my job with the rockets this spring. Dave the owner was unable to finance operations for this year and really last year too. He is trying to get oge to build 1500 units this year. So they might be available there later this season.
It's a real bummer for me after putting 10 years into both company and product to have to just walk away but it is what I have to do. Still love riding them, just not in charge of making them anymore. In closing, I am with all of you.
Where are the sleds cause I want to buy one too."
A big part of me writing this blog is to continue to get the world to love these sleds. Here is the dream.
Here is what to expect in the posts,
Free sledding news
Sled modification tips (how to make them faster, more comfortable)
Sledding tips (where to go, how to make jumps and things)
Featured sledders
Now, I don't claim know everything about sledding, so send me stuff that other sledders would find useful.
